Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern the relationship between GarageScape ("we," "us," or "our") and any person or organization ("you" or "Client") who requests or receives services from us. By booking a service, accepting a quote, or permitting our team to work at your property, you agree to these Terms.

GarageScape provides garage decluttering, organization, cleaning, and related services in Calgary, Airdrie, Okotoks, Cochrane, and Chestermere, Alberta. These Terms apply to all such services regardless of how they are booked.

1. Service Agreement

Quote and Acceptance

All services begin with a quote provided by GarageScape based on information you supply about the scope of work, either by phone, email, contact form, or an in-person assessment. Quotes are estimates based on the information available at the time they are provided. Final pricing may be adjusted if the actual scope of work materially differs from what was described at the time of quoting (for example, if a garage contains significantly more items than described, or if access or site conditions are substantially different from what was communicated).

A service is confirmed when you verbally or electronically accept the quote and we schedule a date and time. Confirmation by email, text message, or phone is sufficient to form a binding service agreement. We do not require a written contract for standard residential services, though we may provide one for larger or multi-day projects.

Scope of Work

The scope of work is defined at the time of booking and confirmed on the day of service. If you wish to add services on the day (such as adding a floor sweep, disposal haul, or shelving installation that was not part of the original quote), we will provide a same-day estimate for the additional work before proceeding. We will not perform work beyond the agreed scope without your consent and agreement on pricing.

Your Responsibilities

You are responsible for being available or having an authorized representative present at the start of the service for a walkthrough. If you need to leave during the service, you must provide instructions before departing. You are responsible for identifying any items that should not be moved, discarded, or donated, including items of sentimental or financial value that may not be visually obvious to our crew. We make reasonable efforts to ask about such items, but you bear ultimate responsibility for communicating what matters to you.

2. Payment Terms

When Payment Is Due

Payment is due in full upon completion of the service, before our crew departs your property. For multi-day projects, payment for each day's work is due at the end of that day unless a different schedule is agreed in writing before the work begins.

Accepted Payment Methods

We accept the following payment methods:

  • Cash on completion

We do not currently accept credit cards or cheques. If you require a receipt, we will provide one by email on the same day of payment.

Late Payment

If payment is not received on the day of service completion, we reserve the right to charge a late payment fee of $25 per day after a 48-hour grace period. Accounts outstanding for more than 14 days may be referred to a collections service. We would prefer to resolve any payment concerns by phone or email before that step; please contact us if you have a difficulty with payment timing.

3. Insurance and Liability

Our Insurance Coverage

GarageScape carries commercial general liability insurance with coverage of $2,000,000 per occurrence. This insurance covers accidental damage to your property caused by our crew during the normal course of service delivery. Proof of insurance is available on request.

Limitation of Liability

Our liability for any claim arising from a service is limited to the value of the service fee paid for that specific service, except where damage results from our gross negligence or wilful misconduct, in which case our liability is limited to the maximum covered by our insurance policy.

We are not liable for pre-existing damage to items, structures, or surfaces that existed before our arrival, for damage to items that were not disclosed to us as fragile or high-value, or for the value of items that you later identify as having been inadvertently discarded after you approved the disposal during the service walkthrough.

Damage Claims Process

If you believe our crew caused damage to your property or belongings during a service, notify us within 48 hours of service completion by calling (587) 804-9266 or emailing info@garagescape.ca. Include a description of the damage and, if possible, photos.

We will acknowledge your claim within two business days. We will investigate the claim by reviewing the service details and speaking with the crew members involved. If we determine that damage was caused by our team, we will arrange for repair or replacement at our cost, or provide compensation up to the documented replacement value, at our election. Claims reported more than 48 hours after service completion may be more difficult to verify and may not be eligible for compensation.

4. Cancellation Policy

Client Cancellations

We understand that plans change. If you need to cancel or reschedule a booked service, please give us at least 24 hours' advance notice by phone or email. Cancellations with 24 or more hours of notice incur no charge.

Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice, or same-day cancellations where our crew is already dispatched or en route, may result in a cancellation fee of up to $75 to cover crew time and logistics costs. We apply this fee at our discretion and will waive it for genuine emergencies or first-time occurrences.

GarageScape Cancellations

In rare circumstances, we may need to reschedule a confirmed service due to crew illness, severe weather, or equipment failure. We will notify you as soon as possible and will make every reasonable effort to reschedule at your earliest convenience. We will not charge any fee for cancellations initiated by us.

5. Right to Refuse Service

GarageScape reserves the right to refuse service or to stop work in progress under the following circumstances:

  • The property presents conditions that pose a health or safety risk to our crew (for example, evidence of hazardous waste, biohazardous material, or significant pest infestation)
  • The scope of work is materially different from what was described at booking, in a way that the quoted price is no longer viable
  • The Client or other persons at the property are abusive, threatening, or hostile toward our crew
  • We are asked to handle, move, or dispose of items that we have reasonable grounds to believe are stolen, illegal, or regulated waste requiring special disposal

If we stop work due to any of the above, you will be charged for the time and work already completed at the point we stop. We will communicate the reason for stopping clearly and in good faith.

6. Disposal and Donated Items

When our service includes removal of items, we make reasonable efforts to donate usable goods to Calgary-area charities including Goodwill, Habitat for Humanity ReStore, and similar organizations. We cannot guarantee donation acceptance, as these organizations have their own criteria. Items that cannot be donated are disposed of responsibly through the City of Calgary's disposal facilities or appropriate recycling streams.

Once you authorize disposal or donation of an item, that authorization is final. We are not responsible for recovering or compensating for items you later decide you wanted to keep, once they have been removed from your property with your consent.

Disposal of regulated items such as paint, batteries, fluorescent tubes, and electronics is handled through appropriate Alberta recycling programs where available. Items that require special regulated disposal (such as propane tanks, asbestos-containing materials, or chemicals) may incur additional fees, which we will disclose before handling those items.

7. Privacy

Our collection, use, and protection of your personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By engaging our services, you consent to the privacy practices described in that document.

8. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and any dispute arising from a service provided by GarageScape are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Alberta. Any legal proceedings arising from these Terms must be brought in the courts of Alberta, and the parties consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.

9. Dispute Resolution

We would like to resolve any concern directly and without formal proceedings. If you have a complaint or dispute about a service, contact us first:

We will respond within two business days and will make a good-faith effort to resolve the matter. If we cannot reach a resolution through direct communication, either party may seek mediation through a mutually agreed-upon mediator in Calgary before pursuing litigation. Mediation is not a requirement, but we consider it appropriate for most disputes involving service fees or property damage claims where the amount in question does not justify the cost of litigation.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services, pricing structures, or applicable law. Updated Terms will be posted at garagescape.ca/terms.html with a revised effective date. Terms in effect at the time of booking govern that specific service engagement.
